Toecap Double Monks - Black

The Toecap Double Monks in Black combine two of menswear’s most satisfying shoe details — the structural authority of a captoe and the laceless confidence of the double monkstrap. The defined toecap seam adds visual structure and formality to the toe box, while the two buckled straps across the vamp remove the need for lacing entirely. In black full-grain leather with Blake-stitch construction, this is a shoe that earns its place as an everyday business shoe and a special occasion standout in equal measure.

Key Features

  • Full-grain black leather upper
  • Captoe detail — defined toecap seam
  • Dual buckle strap closure
  • Blake-stitch construction
  • Fully leather-lined interior
  • Leather outsole — resoleable

Toecap Double Monks - Black

Style & Occasion

The most formally correct double monkstrap in the collection. Pairs with charcoal, navy, and grey suits. An excellent boardroom shoe that also works at formal events.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a toecap monkstrap?
A toecap monkstrap combines a double buckle strap closure with a defined captoe seam across the toe box — adding structural formality to the standard double monk silhouette.

How does the Toecap differ from the Diplomat?
The Diplomat has a plain, seamless vamp. The Toecap adds a captoe detail, making it slightly more structured and traditional in appearance.

Are double monkstraps appropriate for a formal wedding?
Yes — black double monkstraps in full-grain leather are appropriate for most formal and semi-formal occasions.

Wow

When I submitted a review for my recent purchase, I noticed I hadn't reviewed these which I have had for a few months. To say I love these is an understatement. I wear them frequently and always have a compliment passed me about them. They look great, are versatile and oh so comfortable.

HI Trevor,

Thank you for the appreciation!

I like the style, but the size was too big. I own 5 pair of 3DM shoes and I love the overall styling of all my shoes, but sizing is a common issue. Only 2 pair fit well (one pair was a brown version of the toecap double monk). 2 other pair were too narrow. 1 pair is too large and I returned the black toecap double monks because they were also too large. If sizing was more consistent, I would happily give 4 or 5 out of five.
